How to keep your pet busy while

you are away

        If you are a pet owner and you

work full time you probably feel sorry

that your furry friend has to stay at

home alone. Cats usually manage it

alright but a bored and lonely dog can

turn out pretty destructive to your

furniture and clothes. Luckily there are

lots of effective ways to keep your pet

occupied while you are away.

First : get special toys

        If you do not want your pet to miss you when you are away. You need to leave a substitute to entertain them the same with little kids. Fun pet's toys will keep your dog or cat occupied and the more interesting and various pet's toys your pets have the higher the chances are that they will manage to entertain themselves while you are out. 

    Experienced dog owners recommend chew pet's toys and bones pet's toys. Because the process of chewing can reduce separation anxiety. Moreover your pup will not be so interested in the legs of your tables and chairs anymore. Instead of buying a usual pet's toys some owners like to get their dogs toys that make sounds but this is a  bit of a controversial topic. Naturally

most dogs find squeaky pet's toys extremely exciting and stimulating. First of all a loud toy awakens your pooches hunting  instincts because the noise that comes from the pet's toys resembles that of frightened prey.

       Besides sounds from the toys service and immediate reward your pooch bites the  toy and its squeaks. To your dog this means great my bite is powerful and effective I need to keep biting.

      And finally squeaky toys are actually

beneficial for canine health not only

other treats in places where your dog or pets usually hangs out when you are away. Your pet will have a fun time during the  day trying to locate all the treats. Plus you know their inner hunter can not get enough of this tracking. This is a good idea to hide the treats right before you leave your house. This way your pet will 

start to associate your departure with a

positive event instead of a negative one

as a result it will not feel so stressed

and unhappy.

Third : leave the TV on

         Hey you can always turn on a traditionally human form of entertainment good old TV as you

head out turn on your TV and leave it on. Choose Animal Planet or any other

channel that has shows about animals. The sounds and sights of other animals will distract your pets from how quiet the house is. Not to mention they will be less likely to get into trouble.

Fourth :  Buy a water fountain

     Any pets owner knows that

animals must have access to clean fresh

water at all times. But who says you

can not combine necessity and

entertainment. These are special water

fountains for cats and dogs that can be

easily set up at home. On the one hand

your pet will have a constant supply of

fresh water plus moving water is just

fun to play in and look at even for a

lot of cats. It might still be a good

idea to leave a good old bowl of water

near the fountain. Who knows perhaps your pets is not a fan of all these new trends

Fifth : Put all-natural peanut butter in a hollow toy.

       Before you leave your house grab a

hollow dog toy and stuff it with peanut

peanut butter. First of all your pooch will go nuts for the smell and taste plus the fact that they have to reach into all

the toys crevices in order to get the

peanut butter out will keep them occupied for hours. Now there is a lot of debate on whether or not peanut butter is harmful to dogs. Experienced vets confirm that it is a wonderful treat for your dog friend. The only condition is that this product should be one hundred percent  natural and

more importantly make sure that this product does not contain artificial sweetener xylitol.

         It is incredibly toxic for dogs and it

can even be fatal but if you pick the

right peanut butter that does not contain xylitol or chocolate,  it will serve as a great and tasty source of healthy fat and protein for your pup. Just be cautious with portion sizes too much peanut butter can lead to obesity in dogs.

Sixth : Give your pets a view from the window

         Both dogs and cats love watching

different objects move around outside. So open the blinds or curtains and set a

chair near the window by doing this your pet will be able to enjoy the view for hours. Just make sure the window is closed and locked especially if you live in an apartment on the upper floors

Seventh : Sign your dog up for doggy daycare

          If you have a well socialized pooch that loves being in the company of other dogs you can always send them to doggie daycare when you are away. Good day care facilities hire specially trained people who know how to keep dogs happy, active and safe. If your neighborhood has one go check it out and get some feedback from

other dog owners who use the daycare.

Eighth : Get a treat - dispensing toy

We all know that our pets need physical

activity to stay healthy but we tend to

forget about the importance of mental

stimulation. Luckily there are hundreds of different puzzle toys that can train your pets a brain most of such puzzle toys are treat dispensing this way your furry friend needs to engage its mind to  get a tasty reward. And because lots of cats and dogs and humans for that matter can be really motivated and distracted by food. It is a perfect gift for a pet that has to stay alone for a long time.

Ninth :  Get your pet a companion

        Naturally this method to save your pet from loneliness depends on many factors. But if you can afford it and you have got the space for it consider adopting one more cat or dog by doing this you will save an abandoned

animals life also provide your pet with a companion to socialize with. That sounds like a win-win to me but if you decide to stick to this plan make sure that the new pet is healthy and has been vaccinated in advance. Besides the two animals should get along with each other a lot of shelters will let you foster the pet for your choice first so if

everything goes smoothly you can adopt it.

Tenth : Hire a dog walker

         If there is a pet care facility in your area they most likely provide a dog walking service. This means that you can schedule regular visits and an experienced person will take your pooch for a walk during the day. If you work long hours this may be the only way for your ball of fluff to get necessary activity and exercise. And 

while you are getting used to a stranger

walking your beloved pet it may be a

good idea to supply your pup with a GPS tracker. This way you will always know where your dog is with the help of the application.
